Masa is a maize dough used for making tortillas, breads, tamales, empanadas and many other latin dishes. 

Located in the historic Velvet Mill in Stonington “MASA” is a tribute to Latin cuisine. It originates from Hispanic roots that extend throughout the continent  creating a landscape of colors and flavors.

BREAKFAST SANDWICHES

 Fresh mix of greens, house made gluten-free Focaccia and egg omelette are the ingredients of our breakfast sandwiches; all inspired by the Mexican gastronomy they are bright, lightly spicy, and flavorful.  

Egg & Peppers $8 (Gluten-free)  Focaccia, mix of greens, omelette, goat cheese, salsa verde, roasted bell peppers.  

Egg & Bacon $ 12 (Gluten-free)  Focaccia, mix of greens, omelette, sour cream, Monterrey Jack cheese, smoked bacon, garlic aioli, jalapeño jam.  

Egg & Sausage $ 11 (Gluten-free)  Focaccia, mix of greens, omelette, provolone cheese, house-made chorizo, pico  de gallo 

Salmon toast $ 9 Meryl’s Sourdough, sour cream, house smoked salmon, fresh cucumbers, hot honey, squash relish. 

Papas bravas $ 12 Smashed potatoes, sunny egg, bacon, pico de gallo, sour cream, salsa verde,  cilantro. 

EMPANADAS

Our signature product is unique and colourful. Originally from Bolivia where they are called Salteñas, they are juicy, sweet, and lightly spicy. 

Onion Soup empanada (vegetarian) $8  Caramelized onions, parmesan and provolone cheeses 

Curry Chicken empanada $8 Curry chicken, carrots, scallions and raisins  

Beef empanada $8 Beef, onions, potatoes and chilis  

Pesto empanada $8 Basil, roasted peppers, cheddar, mozzarella + side hot sauce 

Cheese burger empanada $8 Ground beef, American cheese, pickles + side big mac sauce

We source the ingredients locally, from the Velvet Mill farmer’s market: Apis  Verdi Farm mix of greens, Bloomsday Cheese from Cato Corner and Apples  from 18th century are a few examples. Our salads are fresh and colorful. 

Farmers Market $ 12 (vegetarian)  Mix of baby greens, pickled squash, goat cheese, jalapeño jam, pickled turnips,  apples, caramelized pumpkin and sunflower seeds.  

Smoked salmon $ 13  Mix of baby greens, fresh cucumbers, house smoked salmon, banana peppers,  pickled turnips, hot honey, plantain chips. 

Grilled Chicken $ 13   Mix of baby greens, grilled chicken, salsa verde, black beans, pico de gallo,  parmesan and provolone cheeses, jalapeño jam, crispy tostadas 

SANDWICHES

Let’s take a trip to Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, and Cuba. Our breads are house made,  the hams, all the sauces and pickles are also house made.  

Peruvian Chicken $ 12   Bao bread, salsa verde, mix of greens, shredded chicken “pollo a la brasa,”  potato sticks.  

The Cuban $ 13   Bao bread, pork carnitas, ham, Monterrey Jack, fermented mustard, pickles in banana vinegar, plantain chips.  

Chinese BBQ $ 12   Bao bread, house made peruvian 5 spice ham, sweet charsiu sauce, turnip  pickles, fresh cucumbers.  

The Veggie $ 10 (vegetarian)  Bao bread, mix of greens, roasted bell peppers, goat cheese, squash pickles,  potato sticks 

The Kids Grilled Cheese $ 10  Bao bread, American, provolone, Monterrey jack, cheddar, mozzarella. 

The BLT $ 9 Bao bread, mix of greens, smoked bacon, garlic aioli, tomatoes, potato sticks.
